Art Challenge: Storytelling
Journal Prompt: Storytelling as an underlying fabric

This page is way too late but I vowed to finish the project when we all started last year so here it is. For two years I have been a member of one of the most fascinating art groups and I am very thankful for that.
Documented Life Project and the ladies behind this community have been instrumental in my growth as a mixed media artist. The community have helped me accept and love what I can do and share and also it had pushed me to face my fears and hesitations and just let them all go and just create. I have been inspired by many artists in the group and had found meaningful friendships as well. Again, I am grateful.

I will not be joining dlp this year but I will carry on with creating an art journal/planner and see what I can come up to.

Blessing to the Art to the 5th ladies and happy creating to all the members of this wonderful community! Thank you for a wonderful 2015 ride!

Art Challenge: Hidden Journaling
Journal Prompt: The greatest gift I can give myself…

As I was browsing through the past three challenges and prompts for this month, I noticed a common shape among my pages, its the circle. I have no reason for using this shape. The only thing I know is that the circle is my go to shape whenever I do not feel like creating or whenever I am at a loss with what to do on challenges and prompts. So, for this week, another focal circle emerged from my page with gel pens and derwent’s aquatone sticks.
Instead of a hidden journaling, I wrote a favorite quote over and over at the borders of my page without any punctuation marks. This was the first time I did this technique (if it is considered as one) and I was glad that I did it. The activity helped me realize that I should embrace my own handwriting and appreciate it more. Hence, I think more of my own writing will appear in next year’s journals.
For the journal prompt, I wrote my sentiment at the smaller circles inside my focal circle also not using punctuation marks, accomplishing the challenge yet again.
I am so pleased with the result of this journal page. I think I am getting the hang of using very few materials. Its also a great way to have a one on one ‘talk’ with these supplies and making the most out of them. Also, I think my mind is having a really good creative exercise. Not bad, not bad at all.

Art Challenge: Using Quotes & Lyrics as Storytelling
Journal Prompt: “One of the hardest things in life is having words in your heart that you can’t utter.” -James Earl Jones

Planning on doing a simple page because of limited materials was difficult rather than easy for me. I don’t know why I felt that way when I was considering how to tackle the week’s challenge and prompt. For week 50, I tried doodling around a circle placed at the center of my journal. Doodling helped my mind to relax and helped me not to overthink about my few materials. In the end, I am pleased with how the page turned out with only gel pens and colored pencils.
