Day 17 – road trip
In our family, when my father says the word road trip, we immediately stop what we are doing, take a bath, dress comfortably and be ready in 30-45 minutes. Impromptu road trips in our family usually means going to the nearest mall. The nearest mall from where we lived was about an hour’s drive. Those quick trips usually happens when we are celebrating a birthday or as a gift from a school award or rarely just because my father wants to drive and take his family with him. On the other hand, every year as a family, usually on a summer vacation, we take long road trips and enjoy the summer in the beach or in Baguio, the summer capital of the Philippines. Now that I am older and have a family of my own, Hubs and I usually take turns in saying the words, road trip which now means packing a light bag, going to the nearest bus station and get tickets to wherever we want to go. Road trips became long bus rides and sometimes when we have extra funds, road trips became plane rides too.
